Childbirth Experience

My experience in childbirth is when I was preganant with my son feeling him move and feel the parts of his body. My preganacy was not what I thought it would be during my preganacy I had  gestational diabetes.   So I had to watch what I ate and it was alot of food that I could not eat that I did eat before I became preganant.  Before delivery I had to go to the doctor because my bag was leaking and I did not know what was going on.  I had to be check into the hospital because the bags was leaking and the doctor said I would have a dry birth. So the doctor told the nurse once I got check in to have induce labor.  I did not know what that was until I start having the pains and the nurse telling me that it was worse than regular labor pain.  I was in labor for fourteen hours the pain was worse but the pushing and feeling him slide out was not bad at all. The doctor said you have a baby boy I was upset because I was told it was a girl but I was happy for the boy.  When I say him it was amazing to feel and see what I have heard other people say about their child's childbirth.  I did not hollard like I heard other mother's do in the hospital I said I refuse to hollard I would do like the Bill Cosby, on the cosby show I would just say contraction until the contraction stop. I choose this experience because it was real after seeing childbirth on television and reading about it I was able to experience it.

After reading article about childbirth in Georgia families can not stay at the hospital or be in the room with the family member having the babies. The husband has to leave as soon as the wife or girlfriend have the baby.  Well in California family can be in the room with you because my family was in the room with me.

  1. I enjoyed reading your experience with being pregnant. Icould not imagaine being told the baby is a girl and preparing your thought patterns that way and then having to shift gears because the baby is a girl. What does it mean to have a dry birth?

  2. Shelia,

I have never heard of a dry birth before and it sounds painful. I have heard of the misdiagnosis of sex before and although not related to sex, it reminded me of another part of my own birth story. Two weeks before I was born my mom went to the doctor, he was checking my hearbeat, he would check one side and by the time he got to the other side, I had rolled over. So the doctor was getting two heartbeats and told my parents he thought I might be a twin.

I am glad everything turned out okay for you.
