Research that Benefits Children and Families
Children and families are very important to me I go out my way sometimes to help families that I know need help. Through out my schooling I have gain information about children and families that I did know that happens. I know a family that was having problem with her child that was not normal the child start having difficulty in school or with neighbors. I ask the parents was the child tested at the school for an IEPs which stand for Individualized Education Program that helps children that are have difficulties and learning or functioning at school or at home. I have work to help this parents with the situation of her child and gave her resources that would also help her and her child. The parent did listen to me had her child tested and he was put in the IEP program that will help him function at school. Now this child is doing better at school in at home he is having therapy every other Friday with the therapist. Mother and the therapist have work together to come up with strategy for the child that would help him. There are some errors that he still needs work on and I am helping the parents now to help come up with strategy that will help the child to feel love, and know that he is somebody and he can do better at school and home. This child is very smart can read at the age of 6 he does like to help around the house but the parents does not have the patient or the time to let the child do around the house. So when I go visit I would let the child help around the house, read a story to me or whatever he wants to do I will do with him.

Death Understanding and Fear of Young Children
This is my second week in my research class last week I chose a topic on death understanding and fear of young children. The reason whey I chose this topic because I wanted to know how could people explain death to children for he or she to understand it and not be afraid of hearing the word. I gain information that it is hard to explain death to little children for he or she to understand it and know that the person will not return. When I was younger the word death scare me because of what I had heard about it. At an early age I went to a funeral did not understand it until my father and mom explain to me what happen to the person. I was taken around to see the person in the casket and I believe the person that did that did not understand that it was scary for me so I start screaming and beating the person up because I did not want to see the person. My mom was singing in the choir and came down and got me this was very traumatic for me. I could not sleep had to have the light on and someone had to be in the room with me. I believe that a child at an early age should not go to funerals until he or she are older and understand what death is all about. I t can be explain to him or her an early age and he or she might understand and not be afraid of hearing the word death and understand why the person is not living anymore. It can be explain the happiness that the person share with the child and how the person is not hurting from being sick he or she does not have to worry about being sick or in pain or even sleeping anymore. Children might understand being told about these information that is giving to him or her. Sometime this can cause a child to behave out in a way that he or she are missing this person and him or her does not know how to express themselves on how he or she feels about the person dying. I learn in my research ask the child what he or she would want to tell the person about and write the person a little or draw a picture for them and find activities that will help the child to get through their grief. I am so glad that I did this research and gain knowledge on how to help a child through their grief and help he or she to understand about death.
