Welcome Families Around the World
This family is from Jamaica and have enter into the United States, How would I make myself culture response to this family.
1. Learn their language to make him or her feel comfortable in communicating with me.
2. I will gain information on the family background.
3. I would put pictures around the classroom that would make the children feel comfortable being in the classroom.
4. I would keep an open communication with child and family and be supportive to their needs.
5. I would ask the family to tell me about their children so the information that I gain I will also use it in the classroom with the children.
Having this family in my country will prepare for their children education and being comfortable in our state by making sure that he is satisfy with the values and belief is what would happen in the community and in the school. By me asking question and getting to know the family will help me to be aware of what the families needs are and my concern to be a help to the family. I hope this will help the family to feel free to come to me in communicate with me and ask question if there is a concern of what is going on in the classroom or in the communicate. I hope the resources that will be given if needed will help also to help with food, clothing and shelter. Children and families are a concern to me and I hope the concern I have will help the children and the family in the way that will make the stay easy to adjust in the state.

Hi Shelia,
ReplyDeleteThis appear to be an interesting family to prepare for. I am sure you and yor host family will learn a great deal from each other. The education and knowledge will enhance both of you.
It can be hard to adjust to a new country, but to have someone like you thinking ahead and preparing to make a family comfortable is a great way to make the transition a little easier.
ReplyDeleteLearning a new language is difficult. Ideally we would be able to speak every child's language, but that would be so complex and challenging. I commend your effort to do so. Maybe some key words would prove useful and helpful.
